| 課程簡介 | This course offers lectures for the design of multimedia systems, with emphases on paper discussions and system developments. Students will be introduced to current multimedia technologies and gain hands-on experiences in this field. 本課程介紹各種多媒體系統的設計方法，著重於相關論文研討與系統發展。學生除能了解目前的多媒體技術外還可具實務操作的經驗。 | ||

This course offers lectures for the design of multimedia systems, with emphases on paper reading and system development. Students will be introduced to principles and recent technologies of multimedia systems and gain hands-on experiences in this field. The topics will be driven by the Multimedia Grand Challenge announced in ACM Multimedia. Students are required to propose and develop potential solutions to address one of these challenging problems at the end of the course.The course will cover the following topics (temporarily scheduled): 1. Feature and representation 2. Multimedia content analysis 3. Object detection and recognition 4. Learning techniques for multimedia 5. Subjective quality assessment |
