教學進度與主題

Description:

This course is designed as an overview of topics dealing with the relation between language and mind. We usually tend to notice how language is used in the real world and how it's used for communicative purposes, that is, an external view of language and linguistics.

There's another trend in linguistics that views language as a phenomenon that is internal to human beings' brains. This will be the focus of this course. Rather than analyzing language as a cultural, external object, we're going to analyze it as a psychological, internal one.

We'll be talking about linguistics and grammar not as you see them in textbooks but as they're represented in the mind. Any normal human being speaks at least one language, which means that we have lots of linguistic knowledge in our head. We'll study how that knowledge is organized.
