課程簡介 | 這是一門兩學期的課程,目的有二:一是介紹給學生現代語言學的重要學理概念和實證發現,另一是讓學生熟悉語言學習的正確方法。課程涵蓋的主題包含:音韻學、形態學、句法學、語義學、語言變化以及語言學與其他學科之間的相互關係等,並以英語、漢語和其他語言的語料作為跨語言差異之範例。此外,本課程亦提供學生相關練習,提升學習成效。 | ||

Course description: This course aims to familiarize the students enrolled with the fundamental concepts of language and linguistics as well as the basic skills required for doing linguistic analysis. It is hoped that with these concepts and skills the students will be better equipped both for more advanced linguistics courses and as competent language teachers/ learners. Textbook: An Introduction to Language (10th edition), by Victoria Fromkin, Robert Rodman & Nina Hyams Requirements and Evaluation: quizzes 30% Exams 60% Attendance & Participation 10% Other Requirements: a. All the assignments must be handed in on time. Late submission is not accepted. b. Attendance is required. If you can’t come to a class, you must let me know in advance; otherwise, it will cost you two points from your final grade. If you are absent in case of uncontrollable situations (e.g. illness, emergency, etc.), be sure to give me the valid proof within two weeks. Being late for over 30 minutes is treated as absence from the class that day. c. Noise from cellular phones is not allowed. d. NO SNACK is allowed in class. e. Grades are NOT negotiable.
