CourseOverview

This course will build upon students’knowledge of structural equation modeling. This technique encompasses an entirefamily of methods, path analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, structuralregression models, latent growth models, multilevel models, and so on. An understanding of structural equation modeling will be developed by relating itto students’ previous knowledge of multiple linear regression and exploratoryfactor analysis, and expanding to allow for correlated and casually relatedlatent constructs.

 

This course assumes no prior experiencewith this technique, and is intended as both a theoretical and practicalintroduction. The software package LISREL will be used to for exploringand confirming support for measurement and structural models. Additionally,some examples using the other software will be provided toward the end of thesemester. In general, this course willproceed through the following topics, (1) recursive path analysis, (2)confirmatory factor analysis, (3) structural equation models, (4) structuralmodels over time, (5) higher-order measurement models, (6) multi-group models,(7) structural means models, (8) latent variable growth curve models, and (9)multilevel models.
