課程簡介 This course focuses on opportunities and challenges created by globalization for today’s businesses. It examines cross-cultural and management issues related to management in an international marketplace. The aim of this course is to enable students to better analyze and understand the opportunities and challenges that various businesses face when expanding their activities internationally and when dealing with international competitors in their home markets. Topics that will be particularly emphasized include: cultural values in different nations and how those values influence management and organizational practices of international businesses; how to gain competitive advantage and compete successfully in the international marketplace; challenges and issues of international businesses on human resource management and global marketing. This course is designed to prepare future employees and managers to work more effectively in a global workplace. It is taught using a combination of lectures, discussions, experiential exercises and short cases.

教學方法
方式 說明
講述法 Text book, PowerPoint slides and video clips will be used to introduce the topics relevant to international business management
討論法 Students will be divided into groups. Each group will discuss assigned cases derived from textbook and present their answers to the whole class for class discussion.
合作學習 Students will collaborate on a group project to analyze the feasibility of an international business venture.
專題研究 Students will complete a group project report to analyze the feasibility of an international business venture.
評量方法
方式 百分比 說明
期末考 20 % At the end of the semester, a final exam will be given to evaluate students’ comprehension of the course materials. The test format will include multiple choice and short essay questions.
課堂討論參與 10 % Students are expected to attend each class, prepare discussed readings and assignments and actively participate in class discussions.
出席 10 % Class attendance is required. Please come to the class on time and notify the instructor ahead of time if you will be late or absent for a class.
報告 30 % Case analysis report for integrating cases will be assigned as a group project. Each group will present an integrating case and their answers to case questions in class.
專題 30 % Students will complete a group project report to analyze the feasibility of a multinational venture project. The outcome of this project will be a comparative management paper, which thoroughly analyzes and discusses cultural, organizational, and management characteristics of another country. The paper must include a comparison of these characteristics to those of Taiwan. The grade for this project depends on the in class presentation and the written report.
