課程簡介	Biological invasion is an important environmental/ecological issue worldwide and is even more so in Taiwan. Introduced plants and animals not only threat native species but also affect critical ecosystem structure and function such as productivity and nutrient cycling and ecosystem stability. An integrated understanding of biological invasion is important for conservation as well as natural resource management. To meet this goal, this course is designed to provide an up-to-date knowledge/perspective on biological invasion. We will discuss characteristics of biological invaders, ecological/social economic impact of biological invaders, the spread (models) of invasive plants and animals, and commonly applied methods of control or prevention of biological invasion. By the end of the semester, I expect that students will have a more comprehensive understanding of biological invasions and be able to join discussion on the control of biological in depth.
