課程簡介	This seminar will focus on various techniques of musical analysis and their potential application to student research projects, with an emphasis on how analysis can affect and/or inform performance and the art of recording. Various analytical tools will be introduced, and the class will evaluate their potential use in a number of different musical environments. Music of the 20th and 21st Centuries will be highlighted, since these are the periods where there is the greatest variety for analytical approaches, and much of the musical repertoire for this periodrequires the greatest amount of skill for performers to execute properly. The course is designed primarily for graduate students in ethnomusicology, performance, musicology, recording engineering, and music composition who seek more ways of approaching the issue of music analysis in relation to their chosen emphasis.
