課程簡介 Poststructuralists’ wars against Western humanism disprivilege the human and render it as linguistic representations, discursive constructs, or assemblage of affects, as a site of contestation, prosthesis, contamination, and becoming that borders the other-than-human. In recent years, the posthuman conditions have been widely invoked and debated in the research areas of biopolitics, animals, biotechnologies (e.g. organ implants, cloning, and genetic modification) , science fiction, techno-cultures of cyborgs, cyberspace, AI, AL, VR, and so on. For many today, the posthuman conditions concern the unsettling of the boundaries between bodies, species, the personal and social, organic and artificial, natural and cultural, human and non-human (if not inhuman): promises for some, entropies for others. This course will start with the posthumanist or anti-humanist philosophies by Foucault, Derrida and Deleuze to build up students’ solid knowledge in the critique of the human as the necessary point of departure for the study in the posthuman.
