課程簡介	In this course we will first look at the interplay of being, nothing and becoming in early Greek metaphysics, and at certain basic themes in Kant, Hegel and Schopenhauer. We will then turn to selected texts of Nietzsche to explore more fully such themes as becoming, eternal return, will to power and “truth as a woman.” Then, using Schrift’s book, we will explore the Nietzschean influence on Bataille, Derrida, Cixous, Foucault and Deleuze. Key concepts or tropes will include difference and decenteredness, metaphoricity and play, becoming, desire, excess and repetition. The emphasis will be on a close reading of specific passages (texts) and on elucidating the most important points. This will be a lecture course with class discussion. There will be one student presentation in class and one final paper.
