課程簡介	This course attempts a complete immersion in preliminary film education. It addresses various aspects of cinema—such as production, distribution/marketing, exhibition, reception, and film (sub-)culture. Meanwhile students will be engaged with concepts of film analysis and film studies. In the hope to help students acquire film-related vocabulary, general knowledge of cinema, and a certain degree of cinematic literacy, the course will require students to read excerpts or chapters from introductory film textbooks and film notes. At the same time, the course will expose students to a variety of national cinemas—clips of English language films or non-English language films (where English subtitles are provided), film reviews or commentaries, or journalistic updates. By doing this, the course hopes to prepare students for film education in understanding and analyzing film in formal, critical and theoretical terms. The course might require the students to read original screenplays or literary texts from which the cinematic texts are loosely or strictly adapted. Students are expected discuss film-related topics formulated by the instructor.
