課程簡介	This goal of this course is to help students develop their ability to express themselves in written English. By the end of the course it is expected that every student will be able to write a well-organized, and well-focused essay in English, using proper expressions and proper sentence structures. The course is chiefly conducted by means of actual writing, with the help of guided instruction and supplementary reading and reference materials. This course will use articles from Times Literary Supplement as examples for close analysis. In this class we also want to emphasize on writing techniques and rhetoical devices, on fine-tuning writing skills. Students are required to keep a writing journal, and at the end of the semester will turn in their journals as part of their homework and assignment evaluation.
