課程簡介	This course focuses on the technical skill of grammar and rhetoric. Five important units of grammar will be covered: Tense & aspect, passives, modals, relatives and focus. It is hoped that the students will obtain not only declarative knowledge (,which enables a student to describe a rule of grammar and apply it in pattern practice drills,) but also procedural knowledge (, which enables a student to apply a rule of grammar in communication,) about grammar. To achieve this goal, in addition to explicating grammatical concepts, communicative activities will be conducted. Special attention will be paid to how the grammar points are used in real contexts (cf. Biber et al. 1999). Regarding rhetorical skills, the goal will be on mastery of the 20 patterns of styling.
