課程簡介	Soft materials, such as polymers, surfactants, emulsions, colloidal suspensions, and liquid crystals, etc., are important in that they are widely used in our daily lives. These materials have complex rheological behaviors due to nanometer- to micrometer-sized fragile internal structures. The complexity in their mechanical properties increases further if they are composed of multiple ingredients, which is often the case. For these reasons, they are also called complex fluids as opposed to simple Newtonian fluids of constant viscosity. Through literature review, oral presentations, and discussion, this course aims at introducing to students the physics of complex fluids and at cultivating students’ capabilities for doing researches on soft materials.
