課程簡介	Thermodynamics deals with equilibrium systems composed of very large numbers of particles/molecules. However, even without knowing the molecular nature of matter, classical thermodynamics has given a general relationship among the state variables such as pressure, temperature, and volume, i.e., equations of state. Statistical thermodynamics, on the other hand, take a step further by acknowledging the existence of molecules. Given a detailed molecular model and a statistical principle for the system of interest, statistical thermodynamics yields the equations of state that can describe the equilibrium property of the system in detail. In this sense, statistical thermodynamics can provide more detailed information about a specific system than classical thermodynamics does.
